Shelburne Vermont

Traveled 357 miles today. Stayed in Shelburne Vermont. This was our first day of
mountains. Part of the trip was on Hwy 6N along Lake George in New York. It
reminded me of the Eureka Springs or Branson area.

There is a nice museum that looks like it will take some time to visit. We put that on our list to do for a future trip.

Counting The Days

We leave in 10 days. Seems like my list of things to do is getting longer instead of shorter!

Went to Atchison last weekend for the Amelia Earhart Festival. It was a good time but really HOT! The Lakefest concert was my favorite so far (I think we have been 7 out of the 9 years). The performers were Joey Martin, Sarah Evans and Sawyer Brown. This is the third time we've seen Sawyer Brown in live concert. They are so energetic -- don't think they've slowed much since we first saw them twenty-some years ago. The fireworks on Saturday night just get better every year -- how is that possible? Thirty minutes of non-stop Concert in the Sky. (I took the accompanying photo with my cell phone.)

We're now headed to Wichita for maintenance on the Peterbilt.

Pomona Lake Campout

We had a great time at the July Working Sams campout. It was warm but we usually had a nice breeze.

John & Barb brought their pontoon boat and we enjoyed the ride as well as watching John ski on his 62nd birthday!

Dean brought his bean bag toss and Roger brought blongo balls(?). Every one had fun with the games and several are probably icing down their throwing arm after the tournaments!

Home Again

We rode out several rainstorms while camping at Lake Perry for the holiday. We got at least 2" of rain sometimes accompanied with strong wind and intense lightening.

We had both the dog (Shadow) and cat (Blackjack) in the RV for the weekend. As always Shadow really enjoyed the outing. Blackjack was not as congenial. He did not like being away from home -- he had to get used to a new litter box and a new feeding routine in the small space.

We meet the Working Sams group at Pomona Lake this weekend. We'll take the cat again -- he's just going to have to get used to it!!

Enjoyed visiting Rachel & Nate

We returned home on Tuesday. Had a good trip and enjoyed seeing Rachel & Nate.

It was hot and dry in the Chicago area. It reached the upper 90's every day. They sure could use some rain.

We took in the Bloomington Gold Corvette Show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Estimates were that 3,000 - 5,000 Corvettes were parked on the golf course every day of the show. They call it "Gold on the Green" and it was a beautiful sight.

We had Sunday Brunch at Pheasant Run with Rachel & Nate. It was a delicious treat. Then we went to the afternoon matinee of "Flanagan's Wake" at the Noble Fool Theater (also at Pheasant Run). We enjoyed the show -- the audience interaction made it unpredictably funny.

On Monday, Rachel & I spent some time at the Mario Tricocci Spa (also at the Pheasant Run). Rachel & Nate had given me a gift certificate for Mother's Day, my birthday and retirement. I enjoyed getting a facial and pedicure. Heavenly!!

We hadn't been to Nate & Rachel's home since moving weekend in April 2004. They have really made some nice improvements in the decorating, flooring, kitchen and landscaping. Nate has a small but productive garden. We picked about a dozen green beans and he'll soon have ripe tomatoes.

We are now at Lake Perry for the Fourth of July holiday. (How can you have a holiday when you're retired?? Every day seems like a holiday.)
