Calendar of Events

Who says there's nothing to do in a retirement park? Take a look at this March calendar. Other opportunities include: walking, visiting, biking, swimming, sunning. You don't even have to leave the park if you don't want to. If you need groceries, Publix is only a few blocks -- bike, walk or drive depending on how much you intend to buy. Also in that shopping center are K-Mart, Bealls Department Store, several restaurants and specialty stores. Walgreens is just across the street.

Meeting at Clayton & Pat's motorhome to do some sightseeing.

What gorgeous weather for an outing!

Kansas Day

Today, four Kansas couples traveled to Marco Island and Goodland.

We ate at the Old Marco Inn and were lucky to be there for the Goodland Boat Parade. It was a fun day.

Click on the photos to enlarge them.

The town of Goodland is quaint and trying to retain that atmosphere. There is now a row of condos at the end of the bridge as you enter Goodland but the 'fishing camps' still remain.

Punta Gorda

We drove north to Punta Gorda today. It was a nice trip. Saw some hurricane damage but not as much as we had imagined. Had a nice bay view from the restaurant. Some interesting (but touristy) shops.

Cold Weather has passed

How quickly the weather changes -- clear, sunny & warm again.

Last evening, Clayton & Pat had the "Kansans (all Wildcats!)" over for Mexican food and margaritas. We all had a good time and the weather was beautiful even late into the evening.

A tour of the park

As you can see, our park is a mix of RVs, mobile homes and manufactured 'park model' homes. It is neat & clean. Everyone is proud of the park. There is also a small pond, horseshoe pits, shuffelboard court, swimming pool and a clubhouse.

Chill Out

It is grey and overcast. Today the high is supposed to be in the lower 50's. Really seems cold since we have enjoyed most days clear, sunny and in the 70's. We will be chilling out for the next several days. Then back to sunny & warm. As one park resident said "It seems back-homish."

Walt is making his special chili today and we are watching the KSU v. Missouri basketball game.

Walt has finished off a lot of projects around our lot. He cleaned out our 6' x 6' storage shed. Then installed wire shelves and a 54" cabinet. The shed should easily accomodate our patio set, bicycles and other "Florida stuff". It's a great place for the beverage refrigerator, tools, etc. I enjoy the extra refrigerator for beverages, ice and bargain grocery items.

Walt also mounted the satillite dish and got us tuned in. Just shows how much there is to do here -- he went without satillite TV for 6 weeks!!

Starting our day

Almost every morning we are greeted with this view to the north & south. Only three days since we've been here have been rainy or grey & windy. This morning it was 48 degrees when we started our morning walk. A little brisk but clear & sunny. The high is supposed to be in the lower 70's
