Some Beach, Some Where

I'll take a real camera to the beach next time. These phone images don't do justice to the beautiful beach.

Happy Wednesday

We've had several hot days (85 & humid) but yesterday it cooled back about 10 degrees with a light breeze to blow away the humidity.

We rode our bikes to the grocery store. It is about 1/2 mile through residential streets. We don't have to cross any major street to get to the shopping center. It was a good ride -- we just can't buy too many groceries. I have a small basket on the handlebars of my bike.

Off to explore today.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Here's what the pets do

Ahhhhh! 74 degrees and sunny! So much to do.

What is there to do in Florida?

As you can see Walt does about the same thing that he does at home -- washes vehicles! We bought a Florida car. It really did come from a 89 year-old lady! It is a 1998 Buick Century with 6,600 miles. We thought it was a good buy and I don't mind tooling around in a 'little old lady' car.

Florida Sunshine

We arrived in Bonita Springs today. We're set-up and unpacked for the winter.

We've already met many of the park residents. It's really nice here.

We went for a drive and watched sunset at Bonita Beach. NICE.

Palmetto Florida

Here is our campsite in Palmetto Florida. Note the moss hanging in the Live Oak trees. Weather is beautiful -- natives say its COLD!

We will be here until Tuesday morning. We're about 15 minutes from Bradenton where our former neighbors live.

Seeking warmer weather

Here are photos of Nashville.

Today we drove through both Nashville and Atlanta. Nashville had no construction and light traffic. We had no problems. Atlanta was heavy traffic and lots of road construction. We were glad to be past these two obstacles.

Tonight we are staying in Tifton GA. Temperature was around 50 when we pulled in. This is warmer than we have had for a while. Supposed to get into the upper 30's tonight.

We will head for Bradenton FL tomorrow. Plan to visit with friends and head to Bonita Springs on Tuesday morning. Forecast is for upper 60's tomorrow. Break out the sunglasses, shorts & t-shirts!!!

Clarksville Tennessee

It's COLD here. Was 33 degrees when we checked into the campground at 6pm.

Travel was good today. No problems with the brake system.

Looked ahead to Florida weather -- they are expecting a freeze or at least 25 degree wind chill over the next few nights. We may run out of warm clothes!

Long driving day -- we'll be in bed early.

Good question! Where are we? Bonner Springs

No. I did not say Bonita Springs.
We left home Tuesday morning for our leisurely drive to Florida. On the turnpike east of Lawrence, the trailer brakes on the left side locked up. Thank goodness for Good Sam Emergency Road Service. They found a mobile RV repair company in Tonganoxie who agreed to come to us and work on the brakes. In a few hours he had us ready to roll again. Couldn't find the exact cause of the problem but seemed to be repaired. The technician was very good and gave us his number in case the problem recurred.
We continued east and got as far as Odessa on I-70. Then the brakes on both sides of the trailer locked up. The turnpike was a bad place to be but I-70 was worse. Traffic was heavy and shoulders narrow with a deep drop-off.
We are now waiting for a master brake cylinder. Should arrive via air freight. Decided it was best to turn back to Bonner Springs and be near the technician we had been working with. Hope to be back on the road soon.
