USS Lexington

Today we toured the USS Lexington Museum on the Bay.

It was a nice clear day, perfect weather to view the WWII aircraft carrier. The ship was in service until the early 1990's when it was donated for a museum in the Corpus Christi Bay.

One of the planes was flown by Cdr. John McCain during the Vietnam War.

The ship is large and holds a variety of fighter planes on the flight deck.

Taking the Road Less Traveled

We took Hwys 19, 79 and 77 to Victoria today.

The roads were good and there was little traffic. Instead of rest areas, there were picnic areas. They were heavily shaded and beautiful areas to pull over to make a sandwich, walk the dog or just take a break.

Lake Fork Texas

We spent last night dry camped at friends home on Lake Fork - east of Dallas. It was a beautiful cool evening.

We really enjoyed catching up with all that's happened since we were last together in Sept 2006.

Another Short Trip

We left home Tuesday and are working our way to Corpus Christi.

Stopped in Mustang, Oklahoma to visit friends. We are camped beside their house.

It has really rained last night and all day today.

We hope for a clear windy day tomorrow so we can leave Friday morning.

Grandpa's New Co-Pilot

This evening Walt brought the RV home after some repairs. He told me to get the camera and take a photo of his new co-pilot.

It was getting dark but I was still able to catch Caden's bright eyes and smile as he 'helped' Grandpa back in to the driveway. He felt pretty comfortable in that big seat.
