Last Day of the Rally

Had a fun day today beginning with a Continental Breakfast, Business Meeting, break for lunch, Skits by the Regions, Silent Auction conclusion and announcement of winners. The Silent Auction, Raffle, cash donations, etc. netted $3,200 to be given to the Make a Wish Foundation of North Texas in memory of Halli Hart. The money was presented to Halli's parents and grandparents.

We had a fajita dinner and a fun time visiting and saying our good-byes to those who will leave early in the morning. We plan to stay one more day.

We have had wonderful weather. Tonight the lightening started after dark, then the thunder in 'booms'. Rain started to fall about 9:30 pm. It will be good sleeping tonight.

Fredericksburg and the Rockbox Theatre

At noon we took buses to Fredericksburg. We had about 3 hours to walk the city, eat and shop.

I thought I would find a quilt shop (fabric shop) but struck out. All the quilts in the shops were made overseas.

At 4:30 we went to the Rockbox Theatre. It was great entertainment. Music from the 60's and 70's as well as an appearance by Rick Elias who played and sang modern Christian music. It was a terrific show and we all danced our way back to the buses to just crash in our seats for the ride home.

Tomorrow be have a continental breakfast, church service and tour of remodeling and decorating of several of the members Tetons.

LBJ Ranch

This afternoon was free so we went to Johnson City to see the LBJ Ranch. It was a nice driving tour directed by an audio cd. Several places to stop and get out to view the boyhood home, cemetery, show arena and airplane hangar.

At the hanger there was a video presentation and then took a tour of the ranch house and ranch White House office.

It was an interesting day trip for us.

No Photos this Trip

Our camera conked out on us. Don't know if it is just the battery (but have tried several) or more serious. May be time for a new little point and shoot camera.

Sorry no photos of this pretty country.

RV Rally in Kerrville, TX

The rally officially started yesterday but we have been here for a week already. It's so much fun to meet up with friends and make new friends too.

There are about 59 rigs at this Rally so over 100 people. We are at The Guadalupe River RV Resort in Kerrville. It is very nice and accommodating for our rally. Several other nice RV Resorts in this area for Winter Texans to stop in Hill Country before or after wintering in the Valley.

We have been 'pitching' our 2011 Rally to be held in Grove, OK. Many sound interested so hope we have a good turnout. We're hoping to have some checks and registrations before we leave this rally. Still a lot of work ahead of us to get ready for next October.

Our Rallymasters have gone all out with decorations, food and tours. Loved the 31 year old Elvis impersonator last night. Walt and I even danced a few times and it didn't seem to hurt his knee.

Walt is in a board meeting this morning and I am free until about 3:30. Tonight we bus to Enchanted Springs Ranch for a tour, dinner and performance.

Road Trip

Monday we left home around 8:45 am. We had an easy drive through Oklahoma and spent the night at Thackerville. The WinStar Casino has a nice new RV park. We ate at the Toby Keith Restaurant in the casino. It was good food. The chairs used for customers waiting were pick-up tailgates - cute.

It was a nice quiet evening and we both got a good night sleep -- after changing the bed. Either the cat or dog decided to pee on Walt's pillow. That has happened once before when the pets decided that they didn't have enough advance notice that they were going on a trip.

We made it to Kerrville following instructions from a fellow camper at Thackervile. It was little longer but we avoided all the heavy traffic - especially Fort Worth and Austin.

Saw a lot of beautiful country side. Jim & Sherry Cox were already at Guadalupe River Rv Resort when we arrived. This afternoon Tom & Linda Fearon arrived. The rally actually starts on Oct 4th.

I'll keep you posted.

Key Lime Pie

Today I made a Key Lime Pie. I posted the steps to show you what the Key Limes look like. The limes turn from green to yellow when they are ripe.
Mix the juice of six key limes with sweetened condensed milk. Whip 1 pint of heave cream until stiff. Fold into the lime juice mixture. Also fold in about 1 tablespoon of key lime zest. Pour into a graham cracker crust. Refrigerate for 4 to 6 hours or put in the freezer. Frozen pie should be gently thawed before serving.

Sunny Day

Temperature is already 60. Looks like a nice sunny day ahead.

Tim & his family arrive this afternoon. They will stay until Saturday. Hope Caden gets the beach time he's looking forward to.

Just Normal Stuff

Had a few impromptu party invitations, a few dinner invitations, ate out a few times, pavers can't be sealed until 3 dry days in a row. If rain holds off today & tomorrow, that may get done.

I've been cleaning. Tim, Breann, Caden and Grandma Duncan are coming to visit next week ( Mon - Fri).

Had a nice visit with Teton friends at their park in East Naples last week. If we stay long enough, we hope to have them here one afternoon.

I'm cleaning house today and Walt is working on the Work Party.

The Pavers are Finished

After a week +, we have pavers completed. We had rain, wind and some interference from other jobs but they finished yesterday. It looks great.

It will be nice to have our open house party -- especially if it warms up a little.

The park is having a Jimmy Buffet party this afternoon. We will probably have to wear jackets.
