Clivia

I bought this Clivia plant at the Mennonite Relief Sale in April 2003. It is a bi-annual bloomer. It bloomed for me shortly after purchase. Here is a picture of those beautiful blooms. There were five blooms on one tall stalk.

I patiently waited for it to bloom this summer but it had not bloomed yet when we left on our trip this July. Shortly after we returned home in October, it sent up a short, scraggly clump of anemic looking blooms. For about two weeks, we watched as it grew to a tall, gracefull stalk with eleven flowers. I was so enchanted that I forgot to take photos until most of the flowers had dropped off.

Now I'm looking forward to the blooms in 2007.
