Paducah, KY

We are spending the holiday weekend camped at Hillman Ferry Campground - Land Between the Lakes.

It's a beautiful campground and we were able to get a good site when we pulled in yesterday.

Today we toured Paducah. We walked lots in the Market Square area.

We toured the Museum of the American Quilter's Society. The current special exhibits are "Hanging By a Thread" featuring beautiful threadwork by Libby Lehman and "How to Build a Quilt: Foundation Piecing". There was a nice display of miniature quilts. I also loved Stars & Stripes Sampler by Fons & Porter, the fiber art of Caryl Bryer Fallert and machine embroidery by Ricky Tims. Oh, I actually enjoyed seeing every quilt in the museum!

We walked downtown and visited several antique and quilt shops.

Had a great lunch at Whaler's and walked to the river to watch the barge traffic.

Then we drove north of Highway 45 to see if we could find the bridge that we were detoured over in 1981. This beautiful blue bridge is the one. It's spectacular -- and was really narrow for an RV in 1981. Glad we were just in the truck today.
