Newport Rhode Island

Today was a great day for photography. Yesterday was cool & misty. Today was sunny, clear and warm.

We took a bus tour to Newport RI. We toured two of the Vanderbuilt summer 'cottages'. They were too large to get into my photoframe so I have attached the entry shot of The Breakers, the children's playhouse at The Breakers and the entry of Marble House. WOW -- hard to believe these were built in the late 1800's.

The Breakers is 250 feet by 150 feet and contains 70 rooms. The house contains no wood in the construction. It took 2 years to build from 1893 - 1895.

The Marble House took nearly 4 years to complete in 1892 at a cost of over $11 million.
