Another Rainy Day

We are told that the Yukon normally experiences warm and dry weather this time of year. Well it has rained heavy for the last 3 days and today was in the 40's. We've been glad for the rainsuits and rubber boots that we packed. They've been very welcome.

Today we toured Whitehorse. We walked downtown and visited many shops.

Then we visited the MacBride Museum. It has a great exhibit of Yukon wildlife. There were also exhibits of early Yukon days to modern times. At the end of our visit we were fortunate to hear Alice Cyr speak on Yukon history. It focused on the role of women as miners, wives, actresses & prostitutes and was titled "Mining the Mines, Mining the Miners". It was a good presentation and the hour went too fast.

Tonight we have tickets for the Frantic Follies -- a dance hall style show.

We plan to leave in the morning. Our plan is to head for Dawson City but we'll wait to see what the morning brings. Weather forecast for Whitehorse is more rain and a frost warning. Rumor is that Dawson City is hot (85 degrees) and dry.

What a shame with the weather. Whitehorse was one of our favorite towns up there. HOT and humid (typical Ks. summer) here. Be careful and watch those bears. ha B & J
