We headed for Jasper National Park today. Our drive was along the Icefield Parkway.
At the Icefield Center, we checked on a tour and found that we could board an Ice Explorer in an hour for a 90 minute tour.
We got to walk on the icefield (this area is approximately 2% of the Columbia Icefield).
We photographed the glaciers but the blue streaks of ice don't show very well in the photos. It was a trip I would recommend to everyone.
We arrived at the campground in Jasper at about 3:30 to find that there were no campsites available. It actually worked to our advantage that we had to head west on the Yellowhead Highway to find a campground in McBride. It is a nice quiet area with a view of forest & Beaver Lake.
McBride is in British Columbia and we have again set our watches back an hour. We are now on Pacific Daylight Time.
We are getting anxious to get on up north to the Yukon and Alaska. We'll be on the move again tomorrow.
