Glacier National Park

We ate lunch in East Glacier Park then continued about 16 miles west on US 200, over the Continental Divide to Glacier Meadows RV Park. It was sunny and clear in East Glacier. Just before Marias Pass it started to sleet, then snow. That lasted only a short time and turned to cold rain. It was 42 degrees when we pulled into the campground - 1:15 pm MDT.

Glacier is our first "Dream Destination" on this trip. We have been worried over the last few days that roads may not be open because they had over 80 FEET of snow this winter. The Going to the Sun Road is partially open on both east and west sides of the park. We hope to get a tour to see that tomorrow. The road is restricted to vehicles less than 21' and no wider than 8'.

This afternoon, we set up camp and are enjoying the beautiful Rocky Mountains our our back windows. Just when I think that we have seen the most beautiful view, we find another one!

The rain has stopped for a while. Walt is rinsing off the RV and washing the windows. It has been a dirty trip already -- Alaska is supposed to be worse.

We hope to see elk and moose around dusk tonight. Not sure when dusk is -- it is getting later and later. Last night in Great Falls it was still dusky after 10 pm. It is light before 5 am now.

We will spend at least 3 nights here.

Great internet service but no phone service.
